Invocation/Transformations

Hello friends,

I'm very happy to announce the release of Muskox's new album, Invocation/Transformations, available here at Bandcamp, at Soundscapes in Toronto, and at Wayside Music.

This album further explores the textures and forms of Muskox’s previous releases under the guise of early 70s progressive rock and the Canterbury scene, bringing to reality the imagined soundtrack of a youth spent immersed in fantasy and science fiction paperbacks. It's been a great pleasure working on this music, and I hope it finds you in good spirits.

Muskox is a Toronto-based instrumental group formed to perform the compositions of Mike Smith. Since its inception in 2006 the group has developed a unique ensemble sound based on the diverse musical backgrounds of its membership and unusual banjo-led instrumentation. Muskox’s music is a challenging fusion of jazz, American minimalism, various folk musics, and progressive rock, with a focus on densely structured poly-metric pieces.

Feel free to drop us a line, follow Mike on Twitter or visit us on Facebook.
